Huffing it over to the Hilton San Francisco (a refreshing seven-block walk from the convention center), crossing the hotel’s picket line and searching for the grand ballroom isn’t my idea of a good time—thank goodness there was a cool new product to see. L-Acoustics’ new active three-way KUDO line source array sits comfortably on the market between its V-DOSC and ARCS systems. Paul Bauman, technical support director for L-Acoustics, spoke in-depth on the array’s technical specifications—from variable-curvature vertical line source array and constant-curvature line source array to crossover points, horizontal and vertical coverage and everything in-between (pictured). Following the presentation, audiophiles from L-Acoustics and the press celebrated the launch with glasses of bubbly while enjoying a “musical compilation” of artists who have toured with L-Acoustics’ V-DOSC system—the company’s way of saying “Kudos!” to these touring mavens, including Red Hot Chili Peppers, Peter Gabriel, Radiohead, Bjork, Tom Petty, Aerosmith, Lou Reed, Brian Ferry, Robbie Williams, Mark Knopfler and David Byrne. Can’t wait to see KUDO in action during this summer’s sure-to-be exciting touring season!
