The Strongroom Studio Group, AIR Studios, Breathe Post Production and the Strong Hire rental division in London have chosen Avastor hard drives as their storage media of choice. “We chose Avastor drives, especially the HDX-800 triple interface FireWire 800 model, because of the professional feature set that is unmatched in the audio and video industries,” explains Strongroom studio manager Phil Sisson.
AIR Studios, founded by Sir George Martin, comprises eight studios, including the renowned Lyndhurst Hall scoring facility. Strongroom Studios features four major recording studios, eight programming rooms and three 5.1 mix rooms. Breathe Post Production provides a full range of post-production services, including offline, online, HD and graphics. The Strong Hire rental division offers a broad range of digital audio and video equipment for rental, specializing in Pro Tools systems, and also provides location recording.
The studio group handles major motion picture scoring for films such as all three Pirates of the Caribbean features, The Bourne Ultimatum and Transformers, and provides recording and mixing for UK-based and international music clients, with recent artists including Sir Paul McCartney, Coldplay, The Kooks, Kaiser Chiefs and The Guillemots.
“We especially appreciate the internal auto-sensing power supply,” says Sisson. “It’s extremely useful when dealing with international masters from outside the UK. You simply change the IEC power cord and the drive can be used immediately. Additionally, the quiet cooling fan, total quality control and the secure Lockbox packaging makes this the professional storage product we rely on for our clients. There are other hard drive choices, but for complete confidence, we choose Avastor.”
