Lucinda Williams Records ‘West’ at the Village Recorder

Lost Highway has released West, the new album from Grammy Award–winning singer/songwriter Lucinda Williams. The album was produced during lengthy sessions in Studio D at the Village Recorder in Los Angeles.

West was co-produced by Williams and Hal Willner (Elvis Costello, Lou Reed, Bill Frisell) and recorded from May through October 2006. Engineer Eric Liljestrand worked at the AMS Neve 88R console in Studio D at The Village with assistance from second engineers Vanessa Parr and Jason Wormer.

Guest musicians featured on West include Frisell, Jim Keltner, Gary Louris, Tony Garnier and Williams’ long-time guitarist, Doug Petibone. West is a 13-song collection of new material from the artist who Time magazine named America’s Best Songwriter. The eighth studio album by Williams, West is a follow-up to her Grammy-winning albums Essence (2001) and Car Wheels on a Gravel Road (1998), and her Grammy-nominated album, World Without Tears (2003).
