Taking a quick break from touring with John Hiatt and promoting their new album, Electric Blue Watermelon, the North Mississippi Allstars returned to Memphis’ Ardent Studios to record songs for the upcoming Paramount Pictures animated feature, Barnyard. The film, which depicts an animal uprising, features the voices of Courtney Cox, Danny Glover and animal musical numbers (barnyard boogie blues, of course!) recorded by the Allstars. Mickey P., known for his work with Beck, produced and engineered the tracks.
