To help systems professionals target federal, state and local officials and stay informed on important issues, NSCA has launched a new Grassroots Legislative Action Center. Accessed at www.nsca.org, the new advocacy resource solution has been released in time for the 2005 legislative session.
On the site is a complete listing of all elected officials, customized to a user’s district by zip code matching, with details on all contact information. Also are explanations of select issues and pre-written letters that may be signed and e-mailed directly to an elected official. Users may also create their own letter.
“Because the electronic systems industry is comparatively new and continues to be regulated at such varying degrees, professionals need to express opinions on their unique skill sets,” said Chuck Wilson, NSCA executive director. “NSCA’s Grassroots Action Center provides people with timely information and a quick communications tools that will make campaigns stronger and harder to ignore.”
In addition to the communications tool, another benefit to the program, according to Wilson, is the presentation of specific issues. Visitors to the GLAC will be presented with issues pre-selected by NSCA. “Unless something becomes front-page news, members may not be aware of an important issue. You can stay informed by visiting the site or sign up for the e-news alerts and be notified directly.”
