The Montreux Jazz Festival’s Stravinski Auditorium was bathed in purple light for a surprise appearance by Prince on July 16, 2007. Selling out all 4,500 tickets in 10 minutes, Prince sang hits including “Purple Rain,” “Nothing Compares 2 U” and
The Beatles’ “Come Together” during a two-hour performance.
After the show at 3 a.m., the artist took to the stage again at a late-night jazz cafe for an impromptu jam session with his band. In both performances, Prince relied upon Shure UHF-R/SM58 wireless for vocals.
