Sammy’s Opens With Turbosound

The opening of nightclub Sammy’s on November 2 also found new Turbosound Aspect gear, courtesy Sussex-based instal specialists Blucat. Sammy’s is the second major Aspect club installation that Blucat has undertaken in 2007, the first being the Honey nightclub in the north Wales resort of Rhyl, which opened earlier in the year.

Jason Lee has been with Blucat for the past 18 months, but Turbosound has been his loudspeaker brand of choice for the whole 19 years he has worked in the pro audio installation industry. “Turbosound has a product for every application,” says Lee. “From the Impact and TCS Compact ranges for background music applications, through the TCS Series for standard club installs, to Aspect for high-quality club and touring use, you can hand-pick a product for every situation.”

Both Sammy’s and Honey feature TA-500H Aspect Wide enclosures. The former has two TA-500Hs and four TSW-118 subs on its main dance floor, with two TCS-101C in the main bar area and four Impact 80, plus a TSB-110 sub in the upstairs VIP lounge. Amplification is via two T-25s, two T-45s and a T-475 4-channel power amplifier, with overall control by BSS Soundweb.

Honey features four TA-500H, two QLight TQ-425 and two TSW-118 subs on the main dance floor, powered by three T-45 and two T-25 amplifiers. Both clubs include TCS-101Cs for DJ monitors.

“Sammy’s has a very high ceiling, so we had to lower the speakers to offset the reverb that the height created,” says Lee. “There were no other products in the price range that could deliver the sound we wanted. The Turbosound cabinets deliver consistently superb audio quality, plus they’re fantastically robust. These systems get hammered four nights a week, but they just sit there and reliably do their job. They’re well built, have very high-quality components, and on top of that Turbosound’s technical backup is second to none.”
