Second Annual MPSE Charity Golf Tournament Held In Malibu

Approximately 75 golfers, including all the major Los Angeles audio post-production studios, participated in the annual MPSE Charity Golf Tournament. Hosted by the Motion Picture Sound Editors (MPSE) and chaired by Academy Award-winning supervising sound editor, Per Hallberg, participants celebrated their second year with a successful fundraising golf tournament at Malibu Country Club.

First place went to the team of Jason Bonduris, Paul Lester and Gary Zietlow, followed by Company 3 in second place and Iron Mountain taking third place.

Proceeds benefit the MPSE Ethel Crutcher Scholarship Fund, which provides scholarships for continuing education and advancement in the film and television profession; Inner-City Filmmakers, which provides free year-round professional, technical and business skills training and paid work opportunities to low-income inner city students; and Save the Children, which creates lasting, positive change in the lives of children in need in the U.S. and around the world. They insure that children in need grow up protected and safe, healthy and well-nourished, and able to thrive in economically secure households.

Sponsors for this event were CSS Studios, Disney, Dolby Labs, GC Pro, Iron Mountain & Sound, Motion Picture Editors Guild, NT Audio, Sony Picture Studios, Sterling Audio, 20th Century Fox Studios, Universal Studios and Yamaha Commercial Audio.

The outpouring of support for this event encourages organizers. “This was our second year and we really could not have asked for more. The weather was perfect and we had a great day of golf and networking for a great cause,” says Karen Dunn of KMD Productions, producer of the event.
