S.F. Recording Academy Chapter Hosts Hot Grammy Week Events

Though not nearly as celebrity-packed as Los Angeles last week, the San Francisco Chapter of the Recording Academy kicked off its own successful series of events during the recent Grammy week.

On Tuesday, February 8, an ample crowd of DJs, artists, indie record label owners and other local music industry types gathered at the uber-trendy Levende Lounge for “In the Mix,” the Recording Academy’s quarterly networking event. The special Grammy Week edition included a listening party for nominees in the categories of Best Dance Recording, Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical and the newly added Best Electronic/Dance Album.

On the night of the big event, the SF Chapter held a viewing party for the 47th Annual Grammy Awards at Mezzanine; a popular DJ/dance club spot most nights, but transformed into a roomy viewing site for this festive event hosted by Sterling James, on-air personality for Alice 97.3 FM. Guests were treated to a pre-show performance from local R&B artist Martin Luther, while DJ J-Boogie played a cool mix of tunes during commercial breaks. The night also featured door prizes, complimentary soda from sponsor 7Up, hors d’oeuvres, and an opportunity to view the Grammy Awards on an impressive HD home theater system courtesy of sponsor Monster Cable.
