Every year in Madison, Wis., Full Compass’ employees and family hold the annual Battle of the Bands event, known fondly as Rib Chick. As he has for the past 13 years, Rib Chick has been hosted and MC’d by Randy Stenson of Audio Biz.

Six popular Madison area bands competed for prizes such as a Shure SM58, SM57 and E3 in-ear earphones. Classic rock from Mid Life Crisis, hard rock from Mighty Electric and Sapmoc Luf, country rock from the Backseat Rockers and folk and country sounds from Somethin Else and the New Mountain Kickers rounded out the evening. This year’s winners were the Back Seat Ramblers led by guitarist Ron Vogel (whose day job is as a Full Compass sales pro).

After the contest, an All-Star jam session featured Audio Biz, Shure and Full Compass employees, who kept the crowd entertained until it was time to pack up the Full Compass stage. Al Hershner, VP of Shure Inc., said, “There is some sort of special chemistry between Full Compass, Shure and Audio Biz. The terrific vibe and camaraderie seems such a natural extension of the great working relationship between the three companies.” Full Compass owner Susan Lipp enthused: “This event gets more exciting each year. The talent of our staff is stunning. Every band had at least one Full Compass employee, and almost every department was represented. These people are true weekend warriors.”
