Meyer Sound announced that veteran front-of-house engineer Steve Cochran has joined its staff as touring and sales support. Cochran will join tour liaison Buford Jones in the company’s Nashville office. Cochran’s duties will focus on assisting artists and engineers working with Meyer Sound equipment in the soundcheck facility and participating in educational seminars and training in the Nashville area.
Before coming to Meyer Sound, Cochran mixed front of house for country star LeAnn Rimes and Nashville’s Hot Apple Pie; for 12 years, Cochran worked as FOH with Ricky Van Shelton; as monitor and FOH with Julio Iglesias; and with Wolf Sound of Miami.
Says Cochran of coming to work at Meyer: “I loved the product—it was better than anything I’d ever heard. I was with Ricky Van Shelton and couldn’t find anything else that sounded as good. Believe me, we tried them all. Ricky told me, ‘You’ve got three days, let’s try that Meyer stuff you’ve been talking about.’ After three days, he said, ‘That’s what I want.’ Ever since then, I’ve kept searching for the best-sounding speaker I could find and nothing touches the Meyer Sound stuff. That’s my main reason for coming here.”
Jones was instrumental in bringing Cochran on board, saying, “Anyone in Nashville that knows anything about touring knows who Steve is. He has a very long track record of working with successful, discriminating artists and giving them the best sound possible. Interest in Meyer Sound has been growing quickly in Nashville, and Steve gives us the ability to support that interest with a voice of experience and knowledge that we’re all happy to listen to. I’m very excited to have him join our team and I’m already having a lot of fun working with him.”
