Hollywood, CA (October 4, 2012)—Tom Morello’s recently released protest song, “We Are The 99%,” was mastered at Bernie Grundman Mastering.

Released by Morello of Rage Against the Machine and Seri Tankian of System of a Down, the song denotes the one-year anniversary of the Occupy Wall Street movement. “We Are The 99%” was produced by Morello and written by Morello, Tim McIlrath and Anne Preven.

The track was mixed by Ryan Williams, and mastered at Bernie Grundman Mastering by mastering engineer (and PSN blogger) Paul Grundman.

“‘We Are The 99%’ is a song inspired by the global Occupy movement; I wanted to capture the excitement and energy of people fighting for change and make sure the song was free to anyone who wants it,” commented Morello. Tim McIlrath and Serj Tankian lent their amazing talents to the song and we incorporated chants from the original Occupy Wall Street encampment in Zuccotti Park as well. It’s my hope that songs like this will provide a rocking soundtrack for those who have a vision of a more just planet and strengthen their resolve to fight on.”

In 2002, Morello and Tankian formed Axis of Justice; the organization’s purpose is to bring together musicians, music fans, and grassroots political organizations to fight for social justice.

“Ryan Williams was very generous with his time mixing the song at such short notice,” added Morello. “A number of my albums have been mastered here at Bernie’s in the past, and his son Paul did a great job mastering this song for a great cause. I am very appreciative of everyone who pitched in.”
