Aardvark’s Q10 offers eight studio-quality XLR mic preamps and has an ultraquiet 0.002% THD+N to record an entire band direct to a computer without a mixer. Any of the eight inputs can also be used as high-quality 1/4-inch line inputs.

Its DSP-powered control panel offers flexible routing, zero-latency monitoring, snapshot preset recall, input level trim (provides up to 75dB gain on the mic inputs), digital peak metering and +4/-10 selectable. The control panel can be used as a 20-channel mixer with a 2-channel monitor output that is routed to 1/4-inch stereo line outs on the back panel and a 1/4-inch front panel headphone out. Ten of the channels are from the physical 10 inputs of the box (eight analog and stereo digital), and the other 10 channels are from the software application. Any combination of previously recorded tracks can be played back, mixed and monitored individually or in subgroups while simultaneously recording additional audio tracks.

Other features include four 1/4-inch analog effects inserts to easily integrate with outboard processors, phantom power, two EFR guitar hi-Z inputs, front-mounted headphone and line monitor out level controls, S/PDIF, MIDI and a full version of Steinberg’s Cubase LE Multitrack recording software.

The Q10 is compatible with most recording software, such as Steinberg Nuendo and Cubase SX, Cakewalk Sonar, Emagic Logic Audio, Adobe Audition, Sony Sound Forge and Vegas. The Q10 also gets ultralow-latency performance with software synths and samplers such as Native Instruments, GigaStudio and Propellerhead Reason.
