London’s Abbey Road Studios has launched a brand-new expanded Website (www.abbeyroad.com), adding 198 pages of information—more than three times the size of the previous one. The entire site was designed and programmed in house by Abbey Road Interactive, with editorial contributions from Abbey Road personnel.
Easy to access, the facilities sections are divided by studios, 1, 2, 3 and the penthouse, mobiles and post-production departments of mastering, remastering, surround mastering, copying and editing. Each page details the technical specification of the rooms, recent artists and projects. There are links to biographies/discographies of Abbey Road’s in-house engineers and the technical support team, plus new photography. The interactive section has been updated with new Portfolio items and imagery detailing a host of projects that the team have completed during the past year.
Two new features include a studio history section split by decade from the 1930s to the present day with artist photos taken within the studios across each era. Additionally, Abbey Road’s Playback magazine articles can now be viewed online, allowing for the addition of new features and stories.
Pages such as the crossing Webcam and games are found among the new Virtual Visit section, and a new Neighbourhood page highlights nearby tourist attractions and local hotel and travel information.
