The AES L.A. section will meet on Tuesday, July 31, 2001, at TheSportsmen’s Lodge, 12825 Ventura Boulevard at Coldwater Canyon inStudio City. The meeting will begin at 7:30 p.m., with a 6 p.m. socialand dinner at 6:30. Dinner will cost $20, or $15 if reservation is madeat least 48 hours in advance.
The meeting will discuss the current status of AES31 and how it isdestined to revolutionize the music recording and post-productionindustries. Keynote speaker will be Jay Palmer from Universal Studios’Post-Production Sound department. Palmer will provide an overview ofwhy AES31 is important and how it will streamline a number of audiofunctions.
A more detailed description of AES31-compatible sound files andexchangeable media will be provided by Brooks Harris of Brooks HarrisFilm & Tape (New York) and Ron Franklin, president of WaveFrameInc. Harris is vice chairman of AES Standards Committee SC-06-01Working Group on audio-file transfer and exchange. Franklin has been anactive participant in the AESSC SC-06-01 for many years.
