AES To Roar With Raw Tracks

Multitrack recordings from some of the biggest names in music—Fleetwood Mac, Red Hot Chili Peppers, David Bowie and the Beach Boys—will be presented and deconstructed by the producers and engineers who know them best, in a new lecture series, Raw Tracks, taking place at the upcoming 137th Audio Engineering Society Convention. This year’s AES Convention will be held at the Los Angeles Convention Center in Los Angeles, CA from October 9 to 12, 2014. Registration is open for free Exhibits-Plus badges and All-Access badges

Los Angeles, CA (October 2, 2014)—Multitrack recordings from some of the biggest names in music—Fleetwood Mac, Red Hot Chili Peppers, David Bowie and the Beach Boys—will be presented and deconstructed by the producers and engineers who know them best, in a new lecture series, Raw Tracks, taking place at the upcoming 137th Audio Engineering Society Convention. This year’s AES Convention will be held at the Los Angeles Convention Center in Los Angeles, CA from October 9 to 12, 2014. This new series features top-name producers and engineers who will discuss and deconstruct influential, classic recordings from some of music’s most highly regarded artists. Attendees can learn firsthand about details of the sessions — the gear that was used, recording technique, and other insightful production information.

Raw Tracks: Fleetwood Mac — A Master Class presented by Ken Caillat.

Renowned engineer/producer Ken Caillat will discuss, analyze, and deconstruct the multi-track recording of a classic Fleetwood Mac song from the hit album Rumours.

Recording & Production: RP2

Raw Tracks: David Bowie — A track-by-track Master Class featuring a classic David Bowie recording, presented by Ken Scott.

Legendary recording engineer and producer Ken Scott will discuss, analyze and deconstruct a classic David Bowie recording track by track. Ken Scott has had a hand in many of the most important recordings of the 20th Century: The Beatles, Supertramp, Elton John, Pink Floyd, The Mahavishnu Orchestra, Lou Reed, America, Procol Harum, The Jeff Beck Group, Devo and many others.

Raw Tracks: Pet Sounds — A Master Class by three-time Grammy-winner Mark Linett.

Renowned engineer/producer and three-time Grammy winner Mark Linett will discuss, analyze and deconstruct track by track two songs from the Beach Boys seminal Pet Sounds album: “God Only Knows” and “Wouldn’t It Be Nice.” Linett has worked extensively with The Beach Boys and Brian Wilson for over 25 years, including the first true stereo and 5.1 mix of Pet Sounds, and has also worked with an array of artists including Jimi Hendrix, Randy Newman, Rickie Lee Jones, Jane’s Addiction, Eric Clapton and The Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Grammy-award winning engineer Andrew Scheps explores the track “Pink As Floyd” from the I’m Beside You / I’m With You Singles collections. Known for his distinctive mixing style and ability to bring the emotion out of songs, Scheps has engineered and mixed for some of the biggest rock bands in music: Metallica, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Weezer, Audioslave, Linkin Park, Green Day and U2. He’s also worked with icons such as Johnny Cash, Neil Diamond and Iggy Pop, as well as many independent artists.
