Boulder, Colo.-based Airshow Mastering has hired Dominick Maita assenior engineer. Maita brings more than 20 years of experience in proaudio, including stints as chief recording engineer at RPM Studios (NewYork City) and as a freelance engineer/mixer throughout the U.S. andEurope. Most recently, he was a mastering engineer at Sterling Sound inNew York City. Recent mastering clients include projects by DardenSmith, Nnenna Freelon, Fall Out Boy and Loudon Wainwright III.

David Glasser, Airshow founder and chief engineer, said,“Since our expansion last year, we have been looking for atalented engineer to round out our crew. Dominick Maita has the kind ofexperience that works well at Airshow. Since he’s a musician andan accomplished recording engineer, he’s more valuable to ourclients. He’s also had experience with Super Audio CD, which isan important and growing part of our work here. For all the reasonsthat count, we think we’ve made a good match. He’ll also beable to race his bicycle year-round in our mild climate.”

“Airshow has been very accommodating in preparing a room formy clients, and I’ve assembled my favorite gear from my New Yorkexperience,” Maita said. His setup includes a custom masteringconsole by Muth Audio and analog processing gear from Manley, Sontec,Genelec, API and Tube-Tech. Monitoring is via B&W Nautilus 801speakers with Classe Omega amp. Sam Berkow designed the acoustics inthe 420-square-foot Studio B. “I know my clients will appreciatethe similarities to my previous room in monitoring and sonicprocessing. I hope they also appreciate the differences in the settingshere, with a relaxed professional atmosphere and beautiful naturalsurroundings.”
