Following the launches of the PA20 and PA28 live stereo consoles atNSCA, Allen & Heath has extended the series to include the new PA12mixer.
The PA12, PA20 and PA28 mixers are unpowered siblings of thecompany’s recently launched PA-CP (Constant Power) models.Rackmountable or stand-alone, the PA12 has eight mono and two stereochannels. The PA20 has 16 mono, plus two dual-stereo channels, giving achannel count of 20 inputs, while the PA28 has 24 mono and the samestereo configuration.
The main features of the unpowered PA Series are a new padlesspreamp, internal and editable digital FX, S/PDIF output and parametricoutput EQ.
The PA Series’ mono channels feature an XLR input withindividual +48V phantom power and a TRS jack input that feeds a newtwo-stage padless preamp, which directs line sources to the secondstage for improved matching and performance. The EQ is a speciallydesigned 4-band-type with shelving LF and HF, a fixed LM band at 250 Hzand a swept HM. The 4-band, semi-parametric EQ is also available on themain outputs of the unpowered PA Series.
Four auxiliary sends are included, with two pre-fade sends forfoldback, one post-fade for internal digital FX or external effects,and another post-fade for additional effects or special feeds. Mute andPFL switches with LEDs, peak metering and a 100mm fader are alsoprovided. Also included are integral editable digital FX, 12-segmentLED meters, XLR lamp socket and background music facility.
The consoles provide a main output with 100mm fader, Mute switch andLED on TRS jacks, plus a mono-sum output with level control that can beswitched to subwoofer mode. Pre/post-fader analog and digital recordingoutputs are provided on RCA phono and S/PDIF connectors.
