Audio-Technica’s AT897 Line + Gradient Condenser Microphone isdesigned for film/TV/video production, professional recording andbroadcast applications, and is a short shotgun microphone intended tocapture high-quality field audio in demanding situations. Its lightweight and compact 11-inch length allow the AT897 to conveniently mounton a DV camcorder without adding noticeable heft, while remaining outof the frame on wide shots.
The mic’s condenser element features excellent on-axisresponse, while its Line + Gradient polar pattern provides excellentsound rejection from the sides and rear of the mic. Opening on aninternal battery (AA) or phantom power (9 to 48 volts, 2 mA), the AT897includes an integral low-frequency roll-off switch for reduced pickupof unwanted sounds, a foam windscreen and stand adapter.
The microphone will be available in November 2003 with an MSRP of$369.
