Los Angeles, CA (October 11, 2011)—Teen phenom Justin Bieber’s vocals for his upcoming Christmas album were captured with a Blue Microphones Bottle mic.

The Bottle microphone was chosen by four-time Grammy-winning vocal producer Kuk Harrell, who has worked with Rihanna, Jennifer Lopez, Mary J Blige, Beyoncé and others. After using the Bottle to record contestants on American Idol, Harrell chose Blue’s flagship tube microphone for capturing all of Bieber’s vocals, from traditional holiday harmonies, to upbeat pop vocals, to ballads for the upcoming Christmas album.

“The character, presence and dynamic range I get out of the Bottle microphone is far superior to any other mic that I’ve ever used,” said Harrell, while recording Bieber. Harrell first began recording with the Bottle in early 2011 when he and Red Zone Entertainment partner Christopher “Tricky” Stewart joined the ranks of Fox’s American Idol. Along with music mogul Jimmy Iovine, Harrell and Tricky produced many of the songs performed on television by the contestants and released via iTunes.

“I was drawn to the Blue Bottle mic by default. When called to do American Idol, I found out that it was the mic of choice provided by the record label,” said Harrell. “From the very first vocal session with Naima Adedapo, I knew right away that it was going to be my go-to mic, primarily using the B6 capsule.”

Harrell used Blue’s proprietary B6 capsule on Bieber’s vocals—one of nine interchangeable capsules called the Bottle Caps. The B6 capsule aims to provide enhanced lows and high frequency response.

Bieber’s Christmas album, Under the Mistletoe, is set to be released November 1st.
