Cadac has just released Version 1.07 for its Sound Automation Software (SAM) software (Windows), which incorporates new multiconsole control capabilities, support for multilingual versions and enhanced MIDI facilities, as well as additional tracking and remote-control features. This latest release provides integrated support for all Cadac consoles and products, as well as cross-console compatibility and conversion facilities for seamless show portability. SAM is free via www.cadac-sound.com. Visit Cadac at NSCA booth #2002.

Speaking on the importance of multilingual operation, Cadac’s Philip Jones said, “To get the best out of any system, you need to be able to use it easily and intuitively in your own language. This requirement set us thinking as to the best way of making SAM more accessible, involving some extensive changes to the Unicode text that has now been incorporated in this latest release. By working with our team of international distributors and their local users, we have been able to create Mandarin and German versions as a start, ensuring that all terms are translated appropriately and colloquially. This is a real benefit to users worldwide and we expect to see other language versions coming online very shortly. The other major development involves the multiconsole control facility. SAM can now be operated both as a completely stand-alone system and as the control center for multiple frames. If you could find a venue capable of taking eight frames of J-Type, SAM would have no trouble in controlling it!”

Other features include multiple console control via smaller control surface; live updates for real-time control of the D16 digital matrix and operation of cue-based automation facilities; extensive MIDI control facilities via console or PC hardware; multiple concurrent MIDI sequences; and data copying and editing facilities.
