Crown International recently announced that it has received ISO 9001:2000 certification of its quality-management system.

Company president Blake Augsburger said, “This achievement is evidence for our customers and partners that Crown takes quality seriously. Our quality-management system was designed to keep us on track as we develop and market products and services that are of the highest quality, and that exceed our customer’s expectations. Senior leadership at Crown have made it a priority to put this system in place and to manage our business with a focus on quality.”

Crown originally achieved certification to the ISO 9002:1994 standard in1999. This new version of the ISO quality standard places a greater emphasison top management involvement in the quality system, as well as a focus oncontinual improvement. Additionally, the audit for compliance with thestandard now examines the extent to which a company’s quality systemcontains customer-focused elements, including understanding needs, meetingrequirements, keeping customers informed and measuring satisfaction. Acompany receives ISO 9001:2000 certification upon verification by anindependent auditor that it has complied with the standard.

Crown’s quality-management system will be re-examined every six months to ensure on-going compliance with the standard. Augsburger noted, “Whileachieving ISO 9001:2000 certification has been our goal, it does not represent an end unto itself. Rather, it is a significant milestone in our ongoing efforts. Sustaining the level of performance that this latest certification acknowledges is essential since quality is a continuous process.”
