Disc Makers, an independent media manufacturer, becomes the first company in the industry to offer UV coating, a high-gloss premium finish, free with all orders that use board packaging, such as CD jackets and Digipaks (a value of at least $200 per order).

UV coating is popular because of its high-gloss sheen that makes it look more professional and impactful. This protective coating adds durability, bright color presentation, a smooth glossy feel, and ability to seal in the ink used during the printing process. For artists, filmmakers and businesses, UV coating is important because it makes their product look and feel high-quality and helps them sell more units.

“UV coating has always been available, but at a premium price,” explains Tony van Veen, vice president of sales and marketing for Disc Makers. “It used to be an expensive finishing option that people had to spend extra money on. With Disc Makers, however, our customers will now be able get UV coating as part of their package at no additional cost. That’s why buying from Disc Makers continues to be the best choice for any independent artist or business.”

On the other hand, Disc Makers realizes that here may be some applications where high-gloss sheen is not the right presentation. Therefore, in addition to the standard UV coating, Disc Makers is now offering uncoated “matte” stock printing for its board products as an option available at no extra change.  Uncoated stock gives the packaging an earthier feel as the weave and grain of the paper shows through the printing, giving it a softer feel to the touch than coated stock.
