The NAB 15th Satellite Uplink Operators Training Seminar will be held at NAB headquarters (Washington, D.C.) from October 14-17, 2003, covering uplink operational practices, which minimize the risk of satellite transmission interference.
According to the NAB, this is an important seminar to attend because FCC regulations requires that “a trained operator be present at all times during transmission, at either an Earth station site or designated remote control point” [Section 25.271(b) effective May 10, 1993].
Norman Weinhouse of Norman Weinhouse Associates telecommunications consulting firm will conduct the seminar, with guest instructor Sidney Skjei of Skjei Telecom Inc. Attendees will receive a 200-page Satellite Uplink Handbook, authored by Weinhouse, and a certification of completion, which can be used as current SBE certification endorsed for satellite training.
The seminar fee is $1,050 (NAB members) and $1,350 (non-NAB members), which includes all instructional materials, continental breakfast and lunch. Space is limited; visit www.nab.org to register.
