Ernest Howard Holt Jr. passed away on February 13, 2004, at the ageof 77. A member of ICIA, Holt once held the position of chairman of theBoard for the National Audio Visual Institute of Indiana University. Hewas owner of Audio Visual Film Service in Birmingham in 1958; the namewas changed to Holt Audio Visual & Video in 1987. Still inbusiness, the company is now owned and operated by his two sons,Michael and Patrick. He owned the first franchise for Lava Lights inAlabama, co-founded Action Film Labs and established the Cory CoffeeCompany in five Southeastern states.

Originally from Gordo, Ala., Holt was a Birmingham resident for 53years. A veteran of World War II, he served as a corporal in the U.S.Army in 1945 and received an honorable discharge in 1947. Holt was a1950 graduate of Livingston University, which is now University of WestAlabama.
