Sunrise, FL (October 12, 2010)–The Hall Effect has been selected as the winner of the “Hear. I Am” contest, sponsored by Sennheiser.
An alternative rock band, The Hall Effect was chosen via PickTheBand.com, the first totally online record label run by the fans for the fans. The win lands the band a performance slot at the CMJ Music Marathon in New York City (October 19-23).
A four-piece indie band from South America, The Hall Effect emerged from the Colombia rock scene in 2006. According to Pick The Band company president Roie Avin, “The Hall Effect are an amazingly talented group–at Pick The Band we’re showing that we’re not limited by geography, but really allowing the fans to find the best music from around the world.”
In addition to its performance slot at CMJ, The Hall Effect also becomes eligible to win a three-song demo with a major producer and distribution through Universal Republic in 2011.
At PickTheBand.com, fans decide everything from what artists/bands gets signed and which singles get released to tour dates. Fans also share in the success of the artists/bands they love by creating their own profiles and sharing the music they discover. The “Hear. I Am” winning fans will get to see their favorite band, The Hall Effect, perform live at the CMJ Music Marathon, as they win fights, hotels for two nights, two rooms for four people, Sennheiser headphones and four tickets to CMJ.
