Milan, Italy (December 15, 2010)–Italian music and record company Edizioni Ishtar has installed a 48-channel SSL Duality Console in Studio A at its new recording facility in Milan.
The Blue Spirit studio was built to support recording projects for release on Ishtar’s numerous record labels. Some of the artists represented by the label include Nicola Conte, Mario Biondi, Rosalia De Souza, The Dining Rooms and S-Tone Inc.
“First and foremost, Duality gives us the great SSL sound shared by so many major recording artists around the world,” says Davide Rosa, co-owner of Ishtar. “Our studio will be at the disposal of every producer and artist on our extensive roster.
“For example, one of our larger labels, Schema Records, produces jazz in all of its expressions, including nu jazz. Our musical ideas for this label and others draw inspiration from the warmth and intensity of the 1960s and 1970s and we needed a console that would give us that sonic intimacy while delivering a fully competitive modern sound. Duality is that console.”
Blue Spirit’s Studio A features a large recording room with two adjacent isolation booths. Two pre-production rooms, Studios B and C, are connected to Studio A as well to gain facility-wide access to Duality. Blue Spirit uses a Pro Tools system for capture, using Duality’s fully integrated DAW control protocols.
“Controlling our Pro Tools system from the console surface really helps our recording and mixing sessions to run more quickly and be more focused, as I don’t need to interrupt my concentration to work a mouse,” states Tommaso Colliva, recording engineer, who conceived and planned the studio. “Excellent sound quality, fader automation, routing flexibility and Total Recall are just a few of the many features that made Duality the right choice for our new studio.”
