The Los Angeles Opera recently employed Genex GX9048 digitalmultitrack systems to record its performance season for HDTV and DVDrelease. Producer Fred Vogler chose Genex recorders for their abilityto record 24-bit/96kHz audio across 40 tracks continuously over 90minutes; other equipment included 40 Schoeps, DPA, Sennheiser andNeumann mics, and Millennia and Grace preamps. A Yamaha PM2000 consolewas used for monitoring and to prepare a reference stereo mix for HDTV.Performances included the world premiere of Deborah Drattell’sNicholas and Alexandra, starring Placido Domingo, and Berlioz’La Damnation de Faust.
