Toronto, ON, Canada (October 7, 2008)–LiveWire Remote Recorders recently added equipment to the company’s truck and has also reported a slew of broadcast projects.

LiveWire added 24 more remote-controlled SSL microphone preamps to the truck’s stagebox, providing a total of 96 inputs linked to the mobile via fibre optic cable. A vintage AMS RMX16 digital reverb has also been to the arsenal of equipment in the mobile.

LiveWire was on hand recently to record the new theme music for CTV/TSN’s hockey broadcasts. CTV obtained the rights to the iconic music, which had been used on CBC’s Hockey Night in Canada since 1968. The recording session took place at the Mississauga Living Arts Centre, with a 30-piece horn band on day one, and a 54-piece orchestra on day two. Over 30 Neumann digital microphones were used, prompting a visit from Wolfgang Fraissinet, the president of marketing and sales for Neumann Berlin. Michael Nunan and Josh Tidsbury mixed the project in 5.1 at CTV Audio Post.

LiveWire supplied a 64-input portable system to provide the music mix for How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria?, which aired on CBC-TV through June and July. LiveWire owner Doug McClement did the live-to-air music mix featuring a 17-piece orchestra and 10 vocalists. Legendary composer/producer Andrew Lloyd Webber was one of the judges, and singled out the sound crew for praise, stating that, “Canada’s version of the show is blessed with a great sound mix.” Surrey, BC’s Elicia McKenzie was ultimately selected to be Maria in Lloyd Webber’s production of The Sound Of Music, opening in October at the Princess of Wales Theatre in Toronto.

The 2008 induction ceremonies for Canada’s Walk of Fame took place at the Four Seasons Opera House in early September, and LiveWire provided the television mix for performances by inductees kd lang and Bryan Adams. The program aired nationally on CTV.
