Nashville (August 31, 2010)—George Massenburg and Chuck Ainlay will host “Studio Recording and Mixing,” a workshop for audio recording educators, at Ocean Way Nashville and the Curb College at Belmont University on October 2 and 3, 2010.
The first of the “Best Practices Series,” the workshop is designed as an experiential practicum specifically for college-level teachers of the recording arts. It will be an intensive two-day interactive immersion in the art, science, and practice of audio engineering and studio recording including tracking, overdubbing, editing, and mixing. Workshop attendees will explore and gain hands-on studio recording experience, working through the pre-production and session planning process and participating in the setup, recording, and mixing of the guest musicians’ performance. Along the way, the creative, technical, and aesthetic challenges and decision-making processes will be analyzed, discussed, demonstrated, and applied.
An intensive practicum-based curriculum designed with an 11:1 instructor-to-student ratio, enrollment is limited to a total of 22 attendees.
This first event in the Best Practices Series falls on the concluding weekend of Next Big Nashville and the Digital Music Summit, so Nashville will be especially alive with great music to hear each night as well.
