Ben Grosse, owner of West Coast recording facility The Mix Room, has just purchased a Solid State Logic XL 9000 K Series SuperAnalogue console, which will be installed this December.

“I really like the ‘J,’ and I’ve been successful with it,” Grosse said. “In fact, I’m keeping my J, so the facility will have two 9000 Series consoles. For me, the XL is a logical progression, because it offers all of the features of the J and adds powerful surround options. The XL will give me the ability to easily switch between regular stereo mixing and 5.1 for DVD, DVD-Audio and SACD. This will allow us to stay ahead of the curve in terms of current and future technology. Best of all, the XL is so similar to a J, in terms of interface and functionality, that it will integrate seamlessly into our environment.”

In anticipation of the XL’s arrival, Grosse has been working with renowned designer Vincent Van Haaff to update all three of the studio’s rooms, including Studio A, which will be home to the new console.
