At this week’s NSCA show in Las Vegas, Aviom (www.aviom.com) will announce a custom output card for Yamaha digital mixers, allowing audio in the form of the proprietary Aviom A-Net™ protocol to be distributed via Cat-5 cable directly from the console to Aviom A-16II Personal Mixers. No other input device is required.
“This is a major technological breakthrough for users of the Yamaha digital consoles, as well as for Aviom users,” says Aviom president/CEO Carl Bader. “The simplified direct connectivity makes this a compelling package for both live and studio use.”
The Aviom 16/o-Y1 output card is a mini-YGDAI format card that fits into an expansion slot in the rear of Yamaha’s digital consoles, including the 01V96, DM1000, 02R96, DM2000 and PM1D. It lets studio or front-of-house engineers assign and send 16 mono channels or up to eight stereo channels of audio in the digital domain to each performer—directly from the Yamaha console’s control surface. The 16/o-Y1 output card is compatible with Aviom’s new A-16II Personal Mixers and the company’s A-16D and A-16D Pro A-Net Distribution products.
