multipattern tube mic, with a large-diaphragm capsule mounted above the
mini-bottle-style housing.
OKTAVA RIBBON MIC
May 2002—Russian microphone manufacturer Oktava has introduced
the ML52, a true ribbon microphone featuring a double-ribbon filament
and a fixed figure-8 pattern that is almost completely uniform at all
frequencies. The Oktava ML52 is suitable for use in any situation where
a warm, rounded sound is desired, and adds sparkle to string and brass
instruments with a smooth vocal sound. Frequency response is 20-20k Hz

OKTAVA MKL2500
October 2002—The 6C315-P tube in the MKL2500, with the
gold-sputtered 33mm capsule, gives enough third-harmonic distortion to
brighten and add warmth to any sound source. Oktava mics are well-known
for great prices, and the MKL2500 is no exception. All engineers can
now benefit from the tube sound without paying huge prices. The MKL2500
is a fine all-around mic, suiting digital recording perfectly, adding
character to digital recordings and maintaining a very low noise
floor.

MK012a ($129) is a single-capsule cardioid mic based on the company’s
interchangeable MK012. Like the MK012’s body, the MK012a has a
frequency response of 20 to 20k Hz and can be specially ordered in
matched pairs. The MK012 Multi-Capsule package comes with three
interchangeable condenser capsules (omni, hypercardioid and cardioid)
and includes a 10dB pad for high-SPL situations.
