Los Angeles, CA (May 7, 2015)—PMC and Vintage King Audio presented sessions with music industry leaders sharing their knowledge and experience for the sixth consecutive year at the ASCAP “I Create Music” Expo, held recently in Hollywood, CA.

Since the first Expo in 2006, ASCAP has held reportedly the only national conference that specifically speaks to those looking to advance songwriting and compositional skills. “Production Secrets for Songwriters” addressed songwriters and artists who want to learn production, arrangement and mix tricks and tips. Leading the discussion were noted producers/mixers Rob Chiarelli and Michael James.

Getting his start at Paramount Recording Studios in the late 1980s, Chiarelli scored early hits with his work on Teddy Pendergrass and Noveau records. In the time since, he’s worked as a mixer and producer with pop music artists such as Will Smith, Christina Aguilera, P!nk and Charlie Wilson.

Splitting time between the A&R department and a recording console, Michael James has worked on both sides of the industry since the late 1980s. After a stint at Warner Music Discovery, James founded an indie label, Alternator Records, which led to work with New Radicals, A.J. Croce, Edwin McCain and more. In 2009, James helped co-create IndieProMix, a service that links indie artists with professional mixers for extremely affordable rates.
