More than 100 people attended the Music Production Forum, a freeevent held on November 29 at the new Globe Institute of Recording andProduction in San Francisco, during which producers/authors DavidGibson, Maestro Curtis and The Enhancer explained how to successfullyproduce any type of music.

In a step-by-step process for pre-production, the producerscritiqued the 11 aspects of a recorded piece of music: concept, melody,harmony, rhythm, lyrics, song structure, density of arrangement,instrumentation, performance, mix and equipment. The attendees then critiqued a few songsbased on the quality of the overall production. The conferenceconcluded with a discussion on the state of the music industry and howindividuals should take things into their own hands to be successful,including learning how to set up and run your own record company and doyour own marketing.
