Radio Svizzera Italiana—part of Swiss Public BroadcasterSRG—recently installed one of the largest Studer OnAir 5000systems to date in its Lugano studios.
The system comprises a master control room (pictured) with a StuderRoute 5000 switcher and five on-air/production studios with OnAir 5000consoles, as well as a single Studer Vista 7 digital production consolefor post-production. The broadcaster operates three networks usingStuder DigiMedia playout systems, while a remote news studio forparliamentary reports uses a Studer 928 analog console.
According to Andrea Lurati, Radio Svizzera Italiana’sengineering and technical support manager, the primary requirement foran on-air mixer and router system was reliability. “This is thehighest priority,” he says. “No interruptions, noemergencies.”
Studer’s OnAir 5000 consoles, the largest model inStuder’s radio console line, incorporate all of the“typical Studer on-air functions” such as MPX (Studer’sunique multiway conferencing system) with the usual monitoring andtalkback facilities.
