Tascam Teams With SaneWave to Develop Computer Interface Solutions

Tascam, through its co-development alliance with SaneWave, introduced the new US-2400 plug-and-play universal DAW controller at this year’s Winter NAMM

Tascam, through its co-development alliance with SaneWave, introduced the new US-2400 plug-and-play universal DAW controller at this year’s Winter NAMM show. The US-2400 is a control surface that works in harmony with mouse, monitor and computer, reportedly offering more needed hardware controls. According to Tascam product manager Jim Bailey, the US-2400 “works out of the box without complex computer software installation and configuration.”

Tascam also announced Mac OS X 10.3 Panther compatibility for all of its USB and FireWire computer recording products.

The new Panther-ready driver for the FW-1884, Tascam’s FireWire control surface and audio/MIDI interface, adds features such as improved audio latency, flexible routing options and SoftLCD computer display. The US-122, US-224 and US-428 have had Panther-compatible drivers since the release of OS 10.3.

In addition to Panther support, FW-1884 driver Version 1.10 is compatible with Mac OS 10.3 and includes a “virtual scribble strip” display via a SoftLCD application, which displays the names of the channels controlled by the FW-1884 and attached FE-8s in a translucent bar on the computer’s monitor; direct routing from the eight analog inputs to the eight ADAT outputs; expanded surround control; and three aux sends on all channels (except for the effects return).
