Anaheim, CA (January 14, 2011)–At the 2011 Winter NAMM Show, Universal Audio has released its Studer A800 multichannel tape recorder plug-in for the UAD-2 platform.
Modeled by UA’s DSP engineers with help from AES magnetic recording expert Jay McKnight over a 12-month period, the plug-in models the tape path and circuit electronics of the hardware, plus the sounds of four distinct tape formulas.
Other features include tape saturation and overdrive via I/O controls; magnetic tape sound without calibration, maintenance, tape degradation, and more; IPS Speed/Emphasis Curve chooses between 7.5 NAB, 7.5 CCIR, 15 NAB, 15 CCIR and 30 AES; and the ability to run 24-plus tracks with a single UAD-2 Quad DSP accelerator package.
