Hollywood, CA (March 6, 2015)—Rocker Drew DeRieux recently wrapped up his debut project at United Recording—formerly Ocean Way—with senior staff engineer Wesley Seidman also producing.

“I’m unbelievably fortunate to have my first major release recorded in this amazing studio,” remarked DeRieux. “I do believe that the sound, the pure sonic quality we achieved is unmatched and it’s largely due to these magic rooms at United Recording—and Wesley’s history of recording here with so many greats.”

The project features rock icons Joe Sirois of The Mighty Mighty Bosstones on drums and Chris Chaney of Jane’s Addiction on bass. “I was ecstatic when I learned that these guys could join me at United,” says Drew. “Their performances truly elevated this production to a new level I could have only dreamed of before.”

Central to the sound of DeRieux’s new recordings is the use of the Sanken prototype dual capsule CU-51 for his vocals. “Very clean,” he commented. “It captured a quality in my tone that no other mic has been able to. It was super fun to try out this prototype mic—the response I’d get in the headphones was exactly what we were imagining for laying down the layers of multitracked vocals.”

The first of DeRieux’s EPs from the United sessions, titled “Amongst You,” is due out in March, with plans for several tours on both coasts.
