Building on the DVD-authoring feature set of Version 1, Minnetonka Audio Software offers Version 2 of discWelder STEEL, which adds gapless PCM track play, custom menu-image import, album image onscreen, additional fonts and styles, and menu-column selection.

Features include: supporting linear PCM formats of 16, 20, 24-bit depth; 44.1, 48, 88.2, 96 and 192kHz sample rates; 44.1 and 48kHz (5.1 surround); and .WAV and .AIFF files. Other features include support for intermixed surround and stereo (PCM-only) tracks; linear PCM track pause (0.5 to 10 seconds); multiple DVD-R/RW burner support; one group with up to 99 tracks; onscreen menu auto-generated from playlist; 4:3 and 16:9/NTSC or PAL menu support; drag-and-drop or double-click soundfile placement; and downmix properties preset to industry standards.

Artists, engineers and producers working in classical, jazz, live sound and many other styles will find the Gapless Track Play feature helpful to create seamless performances from separate audio assets. The onscreen look of the DVD-A disc is also important to the end-user, and the added functionality of more fonts and styles, as well as the design options afforded by the image import and column-selection features, greatly increase the ability to customize the menu’s onscreen appearance.

Version 2 remains at the original price of $495 MSRP; the upgrade is free for registered owners. For more, visit www.discwelder.com. For more product news, visit mixonline.com/products_new_products/index.htm.
