Waves has announced that any Version 4 native product installed under Mac OS X 10.2x or later now supports Audio Units.
The initial version of WaveShell-AU, Version 1.0, has been tested for performance with Logic Audio 6.2, Bias Peak 4.0 and TC-Works Spark 2.8; support for other applications is planned, as well.
Version 4 also introduces support for Digidesign Accel DSP cards for any of the company’s DSP-based product. With this support, additional power becomes available: Waves processors will run more than 200% faster. For the end-user, this translates to the ability to run more than twice the number of Waves processors. Some processors, reverbs in particular, will gain even more power due to Accel’s faster internal memory.
In addition, Waves Version 4 Native products now fully support MOTU Digital Performer Version 4 via DP4’s Native MAS plug-in format. All Waves Version 4 Native plug-ins are now compatible with MOTU Digital Performer 4.1 or later running under Mac OS X 10.2.x or later. WaveShell-MAS4.2_X has been fully tested for performance with MOTU’s Digital Performer, and can be downloaded from the Waves site. WaveShell allows Waves Digital Audio Processors to be used as MAS plug-ins.
Support is free of charge to purchasers of Waves Version 4 product bundles. To enable support, the user must logs into the Waves Website (www.waves.com) and downloads the free WaveShell-AU application. A special Waves-AU Utility scans the Waves plug-ins folder and automatically registers all valid Waves plug-ins as Audio Units plug-ins.
