Based on the standard interface and common programs from the SPX90, SPX1000 and SPX990, the SPX2000 multi-effect processor also offers the new REV-X reverb algorithm and 96kHz audio DSP.
It also offers an advanced user interface with five assignable LCD back colors, Operation Lock mode and a computer-based editor program.
The heart of the SPX2000 is its 96kHz audio DSP, with 32-bit internal processing (58-bit accumulator), which offers abundant processing power for the advanced effect algorithms. The 24-bit, 128x oversampling AD/DA converters deliver 106dB dynamic range and a flat response from 20 Hz to 40 kHz at 96 kHz sampling rate.
There are three banks to the SPX2000’s memory: Preset, Classic and User. Preset contains 97 programs; 17 are made with the newly developed REV-X reverb algorithms. Newly introduced parameters like Room Size and Decay envelope also bring much higher definition and finer nuances. Other presets include gate reverbs, delays, pitch effects, modulation, etc. The Classic bank consists of 25 programs and User can store 99 user programs.
The rugged, aluminum front panel features two sets of Cross Keys. Parameters are sorted into three groups: Parameter, Fine Param and Utility. Dedicated buttons include Undo, Compare, Bank, Mode, Meter, Tap and Bypass. The rear panel houses XLR and 1/4-inch L/R I/O connections, both with +4 dBU/-10 dBU Selector switch. Connections include AES/EBU, XLR-type I/O connectors and BNC Wordclock In. Also, MIDI In/Out/Thru and USB-to-Host connectors are provided for remote control and data management when using computers, digital consoles or any MIDI device. A foot switch connector is placed on the front panel for effect tempo control.
The SPX Editor (Mac OS X, Windows) provides editing, data management and remote-control capability when using computers, and is scheduled for release in December 2003.
