119th AES Convention to Feature Student Program

New to AES in 2005, the AES Convention Student Program is geared to provide fledgling audio pros with solid opportunities to jump-start their careers.

New to AES in 2005, the AES Convention Student Program is geared to provide fledgling audio pros with solid opportunities to jump-start their careers. The team of Education Committee Events co-chairs Dottie Kreps and Felice Lazar Santos-Martin have coordinated a series of panels, one-on-one mentoring sessions and creative recording competitions designed to test their student mettle and get their creative juices flowing. Set for Oct. 7-10 in NY’s Jacob Javits Center, the Convention will host more than 400 exhibitors and anticipates 20,000 attendees.

Participating mentors, competition judges and panelists include mastering engineer Emily Lazar (David Bowie, Third Eye Blind, Natalie Merchant), Kevin Killen (Peter Gabriel, Elvis Costello, Jewel), and 5.1 Surround sound/THX pioneer Tom Holman. Scheduled events include an AES Career Fair (Oct. 7, 2:00 p.m.-3:30 p.m.), one-on-one meetings (Oct. 7, 1:30 p.m.-3:00 p.m.), AES Student Recording Competition (Oct. 8, 1:30 p.m.-3:00 p.m.), an Education Forum (Oct. 8, 9:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.) and much more.
