AES News: Digidesign Upgrades, Updates

Digidesign has introduced six new ICON D-Control™ Integrated Console configurations, optimized for mixing and surround workflows.

Digidesign has introduced six new ICON D-Control™ Integrated Console configurations, optimized for mixing and surround workflows. These new configurations combine essential ICON system components, the ICON Surround Panner option, modular Pro Tools|HD® interfaces and peripherals, a comprehensive set of plug-ins, and a DigiDelivery® file exchange system server that will enable music and post production professionals to quickly attain end-to-end control over projects while enjoying the tremendous value of pre-configured offerings. Sales of the ICON|D-Control and ICON|D-Command digital console control surfaces have now surpassed 700 units, the company reports.

In other Digi news, the Fall leg of U2’s Vertigo tour kicked off recently with veteran Clair Brothers engineer Dave Skaff choosing Digidesign’s VENUE live sound environment to handle monitor mixing duties. Skaff, a 25-year mixing engineer whose credits include U2, Alicia Keys, Shania Twain and others, first used VENUE as a front-of-house console (FOH) for Alicia Keys.

For the VENUE, Digidesign has just introduced the Drawmer TourBuss plug-in suite, which offers four dynamics plug-ins, exclusive to Digidesign® VENUE systems, that retain the layout and emulate the sound of Drawmer’s DS201 Noise Gate and DL241 Auto-Compressor hardware units.
