CEntrance recently demonstrated a new Universal FireWire™ audio driver for Windows XP™ at AES New York (October 7-10). The company showed the unique capability of a single-host application playing simultaneously through audio interfaces from several manufacturers.

The CEntrance Universal Driver is ASIO-compatible, features low-latency audio performance and supports 44.1, 48 and 96kHz at either 16- or 24-bit resolution. The driver is scheduled for release in Q1 2006, and will be offered for sale directly from the CEntrance Website. Users can simply download the driver and install it.

“Customers need robust, low latency audio drivers that are easy to set up and don’t suffer from device conflicts. We developed our Universal Driver to support ASIO multi-host and multi-device functionality, making it possible for users to mix and match interfaces and applications from different manufacturers,” said Michael Goodman, managing director of CEntrance. “We feel consumers will welcome the flexibility of adding channels when they need to, by adding new interfaces to their existing setup. Manufacturers aren’t left out—we support them, via driver customization.”

In 2004, Oxford Semiconductor chose CEntrance to develop ASIO drivers for its streaming FireWire audio controllers and designated CEntrance its third-party solution provider.
