Apogee Delivers New PCI-Express Driver for Symphony

Apogee Electronics Corporation announced a new Universal Binary PCI-Express driver for its Symphony 32-channel PCI-Express card. The driver is designed to take advantage of the power and technology in Apple’s new Intel-based Mac Pro.

Apogee states that its new driver, in combination with the Mac Pro’s Intel processors, lowers the latency of the Symphony PCI-Express card by more than 50 percent into the 2ms range. With up to four internal SATA drives, the Mac Pro can be set up as a striped RAID. The two Dual-Core Intel Xeon chips allows users to add plug-ins and soft synths at lower buffer settings.
