Blue Introduces Icicle USB Converter, Preamp; Mikey Portable Recorder

Blue Microphones’ Icicle USB converter and preamp

Blue Microphones introduces Icicle ($59.99), an in-line USB converter and preamp for connecting XLR microphones directly to a Mac or PC. Icicle works with dynamic and condenser microphones. Icicle features a studio-quality microphone preamp; 48-volt phantom power; fully balanced low-noise front end; analog gain control; plug-and-play driverless operation; a 16-bit/44.1kHz CD-quality converter.

Blue Microphones is also introducing Mikey ($79.99), a portable recording device for the iPod. Mikey features Blue’s stereo condenser capsules; three-position, user selectable gain settings; a built-in speaker for playback; and a user adjustable head. Mikey works with iPod 4G, 5G, 6G, iPod Nano 2G, 3G and iPod Classic, and is compatible with most protective cases.

According to Blue, Icicle and Mikey will be available in December 2008 from flagship retail partners such as Guitar Center, the Apple Retail Store and Amazon.com, as well as other pro audio and consumer electronics retailers worldwide.
