Brainworx CEO Dirk Ulrich Forms Plugin Alliance

Plug-in manufacturer Brainworx, based in Leichlingen, Germany, announces that CEO Dirk Ulrich has formed a new plug-in company called Plugin Alliance LLC, comprised of Brainworx, SPL, Elysia, Vertigo, Millennia, Charter Oak, Mäag Audio, Neve Custom Series 75, and Chandler Limited. The new company’s Website will launch on January 2, 2012, but is offering no services until January 2.

The Plugin Alliance Website will offer downloads, tech support, sales, news, and more for all plug-ins manufactured by members of the Alliance. The Alliance will also offer bundles from multiple brands for specific needs, such as mastering bundles, mix bundles, heavy metal bundles, and more with mixed plug-ins.

“Our goal is to establish a new, user friendly native plug-in ‘über-standard,'” says Ulrich, “supporting all major plug-in formats and uniting some of the best-known international audio companies under one virtual home.”

Interested customers will be able to open a free account with the Alliance. Ulrich says that the Alliance will honor all existing ilok licenses and offer affordable or free upgrades to 64-bit and the new native AAX for all users. Licenses purchased from Brainworx, SPL, Vertigo, or elysia will be available in a free Plugin Alliance account, and the Alliance will guide its members via email.

The new Alliance license system uses one single license file for all Alliance plug-ins on a user’s computer, which can be activated online and offline, and allows use on up to three machines at the same time.

Customers who do want to join the Alliance will be able to continue using the iLok based installers that they originally bought; the Plugin Alliance will continue to have them online as well.

Many upgrades are free. Owners of a bx_ALL 2012 or an SPL ALL 2012 full license will receive a free upgrade for all Alliance plug-ins. All individual plug-ins bought on or after May 1, 2011, are also eligible for free upgrades. Small upgrade fees apply for all plug-ins bought before May 1, 2011.

The Plugin Alliance Website will launch on January 2, 2012, at www.plugin-alliance.com.

The Plugin Alliance has a Facebook page at www.facebook.com/pluginalliance.
