Calrec to Unveil Bluefin Signal Processing for Sigma Console

At the IBC2006 exhibition, which will take place September 8 through 12 at the RAI Exhibition and Congress Centre in Amsterdam, Netherlands, Calrec will unveil its Bluefin high density signal processing system for the Sigma digital console. Bluefin enables the Sigma to handle 320 fully equipped mono equivalent channels, packaged as 108 stereo and 104 mono, and configurable up to 52 full 5.1 surround channels.

Bluefin also boosts the Sigma’s bus structure, giving it the same busing capabilities as a classic Alpha console, including 20 auxiliary and 48 multitrack outputs. Additionally, Bluefin allows users to introduce 19.6 minutes of audio delay, divided into 432 mono elements of up to 2.73 seconds each, which can be positioned anywhere in the audio path for the desired compensation.

Other benefits include extra metering capability, additional EQ in the channels and groups, and more inserts for outboard plug-ins.
