Chyron Corporation has announced an agreement with Global Interactive Solutions’ Cool TV to offer interactive television services to North American broadcasters and advertisers using mobile phone text messaging and Chyron graphics hardware. Typical mobile interactive applications include opinion polls, group chat rooms, trivia challenges, contests, information services and direct marketing.
By utilizing Cool TV’s platform based on SMS mobile phone text messaging and Chyron’s CAL API graphics engine run by Duet LEXs that allow for dynamic, data-driven updates, this model reportedly bypasses gatekeeper cable and satellite providers. In past years, interactive TV commerce had been slowed by demands from service providers that all interactive content be generated through their equipment.
Mobile interactive TV can tailor entertainment content for both new and established programs, as well as integrate games into programming, in order to appeal to key target demographics.
